Problem Note 53751: A "Cannot connect to the database ..." error is displayed during the SAS® Social Network Analysis Test Connection configuration step

If SAS Social Network Analysis is packaged with SAS® Enterprise GRC, then a configuration error is displayed when you select Test Connection. The error is displayed even though you specified the correct parameters in the Test Connection pane.

Cannot connect to the database. Please verify that the database hostname, DB name, and credentials are correct.

The problem occurs because there is a property file missing from the SAS Software Depot that was created from the order. A hot fix is available to create the missing file. After the hot fix is applied as part of the installation, you can copy the file SASHome/SASSocialNetworkAnalysis/6.2/Config/snamid_default.properties to your depot in one of these locations:

  • SASDepot/product_data/snamid__94120__prt__xx__sp0__1/configure - use this location if no maintenance is being applied.
  • SASDepot/product_data/snamid__94120__c####__xx__sp0__1/configure - use this location if you have maintenance that is being applied. The #### is replaced by numbers that are assigned at the time of the maintenance.

If you do not apply the hot fix before the configuration, then you are not able to move past the Database Test Connection pane. In that case, you need to cancel out of the configuration, and apply the hot fix so that you can copy the snamid_default.properties file to your depot. Because the configuration did not complete, you should be able to restart the configuration after copying the file. The configuration should finish.
